About

Hello, I’m Joseph!

I am a communicator and marketer, and Reclaiming Authenticity is my Master of Arts capstone project and portfolio at the University of Niagara Falls, Canada. I also hold a Master’s in Business Administration at the Asian Institute of Management, Philippines.

My capstone research talks about how social media affects mental well-being in individuals through its platform design. As social media algorithms have introduced a tailored recommendation system for users to reach and access content more quickly, this mechanism creates pressure on individuals through perception reinforcement.

This same experience also creates feedback loops, which I call ‘stacked pressures’ that explain how algorithmic recommendations contribute to psychological stress that eventually leads to negative reinforcement and addictive habits.
